Shannon is such a positive presence; I love how she encourages me to make my practice my own. I appreciate the increased mindfulness and grounding I’ve gained that extend beyond classes and into daily life. It is clear she puts thoughtfulness and intention into her preparation to meet students where they are at and provide a tailored class experience.--Kelly (student)

Yoga has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Witnessing firsthand the positive benefits my parents experienced from their own yoga practices, I was inspired at an early age to pursue my personal relationship with yoga. Years of discovery and evolution culminated in completing my 200 Hour YTT with Rachel Wilkins Yoga here in Santa Barbara.

As a result of my training, and a commitment to my daily Sadhana practice, I understand the healing power of honoring what I need. I’ve learned that by connecting my subtle and physical body energies (mind-body-spirit), I’m more equipped to slow the fluctuations of my active mind. This space of non-doing has supported me in weaving the micro and the macrocosms, the sacred, & connection to source into my life.

A personal call to expand upon my practice, led me to study with Susanna Barkataki & her extraordinary group of guest teachers/mentors through the “Embody Yoga’s Roots” YTT-300 program . This experience facilitated a commitment to deepen my relationship, understanding, & practice of yoga philosophy, trauma-informed/accessible yoga, and how yoga intersects with social and racial justice.

When practicing together, you can expect heartfelt, inspirational offerings, while honoring & appreciating the history and roots of yoga via Patanjali’s 8-Limbed path to yoga & the Yoga Sutras.

My intention is to meet every student where they are, understanding that yoga is accessed & experienced differently for each individual. Listening deeply to what arises within your body and connecting with how you feel during your practice is important in assessing what YOU need intuitively.

Further self-inquiry led me to study how SOUND affects the human body, both physically & energetically. I first discovered how immersing myself in sound affected me in many profound & beneficial ways. I slowly began incorporating sound into my offerings with teenagers/children as a means to support them during meditation.

Now, I’ve expanded my Acoustic Sound Immersion offerings to include ALL students. I incorporate sound in a number of ways: as a stand alone offering, accompanied by guided meditation, or as a compliment to Yogasana (movement/shapes). Currently, I am expanding my awareness and practice around the implementation of Tuning Forks— specifically using vibrational sound frequencies as a means to stimulate & move Qi along meridians or pathways, connecting to various energy centers around the body, i.e., “SONIC”pressure points via weighted tuning forks. It’s so exciting to share these resources with students, both during private, 1:1 sessions and in small groups.

I invite you to explore and create avenues to nourish your own relationship with yoga, both on and off of the mat.

I honor and deeply respect my teachers, their teachers, so forth and so on. I acknowledge the lineage holders, indigenous practitioners, & the history & roots of yoga, which originated and was codified in India.

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that yoga has always, and will always, be there for me— whenever I need to center my mind and nourish my soul.”
